In April 2026, The Tree Advisor was engaged by The City of Newcastle to undertake a comprehensive arboricultural assessment of 46 mature veteran fig trees located throughout the Newcastle Local Government Area. These figs, many exceeding a century in age, represent significant cultural, historical, and environmental assets within Newcastle’s parks, streetscapes, and public reserves.
The scope of works involved detailed evaluation of each tree’s health, structural condition, growing conditions and Useful Life Expectancy. Through systematic inspection and professional analysis, The Tree Advisor provided formal recommendations addressing risk mitigation, remediation and Long-term management strategies.
This project was intended to inform the City of Newcastle’s life extension program and ongoing commitment to responsible urban forest stewardship ensuring that these prominent veteran figs can continue to contribute to the landscape and community well into the future.
